A brief sample of the projects we've worked on

Crop Water Allocator

Kansas State University

Optimal scheduling of irrigation events is vital for irrigation managers with limited water resources. Work done by Dr. Norman Klocke of Kansas State University has focused on helping irrigation managers in limited water scenarios. Sprout Software worked with Dr. Klocke to put his model into practice by building the Crop Water Allocator (CWA). CWA evaluates growing season water allocations among crops selected by the user over a determined division of land area. Sprout continues to work with Kansas State University on enhancing and increasing the functionality of the program. More information can be found by visiting the Crop Water Allocator webpage at www.oznet.ksu.edu/mil/cwa

Kansas Association for Environmental Education

We've worked closely with KACEE since 2003 to develop multiple websites and web applications for both the organization as well as public and private agency partners. In addition to maintaining KACEE’s website, Sprout Software designed and developed the Waterspout Garden tool featured on both KACEE’s website and GreenTopeka.com. The Waterspout Garden tool walks users through steps to properly design and build their own Waterspout Garden at home or at school. More information can be found at www.kacee.org/waterspout.

KanSched2

Kansas State University

Since 2004, Sprout Software LLC has worked with K-State Extension agents and Irrigation Engineers to develop KanSched, an irrigation scheduling software program. Originally developed by Dr. Gary Clark and Dr. Danny Rogers of K-State, KanSched is a simple and user friendly computer program that can be quickly learned and easily used by irrigators to develop an irrigation schedule. The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) offers an Environmental Quality Incentives Program to irrigators who use KanSched during their cropping season. The most recent version of KanSched can be downloaded from the Mobile Irrigation Lab website www.oznet.ksu.edu/mil

Survey Kansas

Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks

Sprout Software partnered with the State of Kansas in 2002 to streamline hunt-harvest surveys. Several hundred thousand bulk mail pieces annually have been replaced with simple postcards that require no return postage. By directing the hunter to enter their harvest data directly on the web, response rates are improved, results are more accurate and data is instantly available to wildlife biologists. Reduction in data-entry labor and postage results in a significant cost savings each season. The front page of this restricted-access program is http://surveyks.org
